Steve Pender and his younger brother Mike created their first
audio skits on a tiny reel-to-reel recorder (a Christmas gift) back
in the 1960s. Fast forward to high school. Steve graduates to a
Panasonic cassette recorder. With this he brings history alive,
producing a variety of short programs in the "You Are There" vein as
class projects. Then comes college. As a member of WSOU-FM, the
radio service of Seton Hall University, Steve receives his first
award - from the national broadcasting fraternity Rho Eta Sigma
- for a promotional campaign Steve conceived, wrote and co-produced.
After college comes an eight-year stint with a New York/New
Jersey PR firm specializing in video. Here Steve acquires his chops
as a video editor, scriptwriter and producer/director. Steve leaves
the firm to become an independent contractor in 1987. In 2000, Steve
and his wife Halina move to Tucson, Arizona, where he continues to
satisfy clients and win awards.
Steve is also comfortable in front of the camera and microphone.
He performs as Griff Gumshoe, a nutty film-noirish shamus, and
contributes character voices to radio spots.
Steve has served as president of the Arizona Chapter of the Media
Communications Association-International (MCA-I) as well as president of the
Tucson Chapter of the International Association of Business
Communicators (IABC).
